About us
We love cloud-storage solutions like Dropbox, Google Drive or Box and how they enable us to keep our data with us. But for some sensitive files, we were too anxious to put them into the cloud. So we mounted TrueCrypt containers in our Dropbox, encrypted zip-files and put our sensitive data there or sometimes simply ignored our queasy conscience.
But all these security actions were time-consuming, annoying and sometimes simply did not work on any platform. So we decided to build our own solution to do all these steps for us:
- Upload files (SSL encrypted with Firefox, Chrome and Safari)
- Encrypt them automagically
- Put the encrypted file in our favorite cloud store.

Why it's safe
After you uploaded your files, the expressFlow servers encrypt and secure your files and enable you to push it forward to your favorite cloud storage. Yes, it's that simple.
We implemented an AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) - based encryption approach to ensure military-strength security. But what do we do with the uploaded files? The most efficient security action to avoid attacks: We delete it. That simple but effective trick enables us to scale much faster.
expressFlow processes the files ONLY. We do not store it, index it, forward it to some other party or something else. Well, but is it trustworthy? There is only one way to find out: Look in our code. And for that we decided to publish the key components as open source.
